Help with Panned Out

Panned Out isn't on the App Store yet. Early access opens in November and the app is coming to the Apple App Store in December. These answers cover the first version.

Common questions

Which iPhones does it work on?

iPhone with iOS 17 or later.

Do I need an account?

No. There's no account and no sign-in. Open the app and start planning.

Where are my recipes and plans kept?

Only on your iPhone. We don't run servers for the app and we can't see your data. If you use iCloud Backup, your iPhone backup includes the app's data along with everything else.

How do I move my recipes to a new iPhone?

In the app, go to Settings, then Backup & import, and export a backup file. Save or AirDrop it to the new phone, then import it there from the same screen. It's a good idea to export a backup now and then anyway.

Can I change the aisle order?

Yes. Start from a big supermarket, mid-size supermarket or convenience-store layout in Settings, then Shop layout, and move the aisles into the order you walk round your shop. Your list follows that order. The layouts are starting points, not any shop's actual layout.

Can I use cups and ounces?

Yes. Panned Out shows amounts in the measurements you cook with. Choose your units in Settings, then Appearance. Recipes are always saved the same way underneath, so you can switch back and forth.

Does it handle diets?

In Settings, then Household diet, you can set preferences such as vegetarian or vegan, and recipes that don't fit are left out of suggestions. The check works from recipe ingredients and tags, so it can't guarantee a recipe is free of anything. Always check ingredients and labels yourself, especially for allergies.

How do I delete my data?

Delete recipes and plans in the app, use Settings, then Delete all data, or delete the app. Because everything is stored on your iPhone, that removes it (copies in your own device backups stay until those backups are replaced).

How do I get early access?

Join the waitlist. Waitlist members get the first invites when early access opens in November.
